Please can somebody suggest what to buy to transfer date from old computer to new one? I want to transfer my music library and there are so many on the market, do not know what to buy? Will be needing it to back up data as well. Thanks

I would use an external hard drive. Depending on the amount of data you have to transfer and then what you want to back up you can choose a capacity to suit. I've used the Lacie drives (available from somewhere like dabs.com) - you can buy a nice small one (if you are likely to carry it around) or they do a bigger size (if it is to sit on a desk).0

 As usual, not enough information given! How much data? How old is your old computer i.e. does it have USB ports? Are they USB1 or USB2?
The hard drive from you old computer could easily be fitted into your new one or if you have the necessary connectivity, you could buy an external hard drive, which would also be useful for periodically backing up your data.
I think that PC World are advertising a 250Gb external drive for £90 on TV at present.

They aint called USB Crossover Cables...
You probably mean something like this:
http://www.usbgear.com/usa/item_100.html
That will only transfer files for you, via an application they provide. You cannot use the Windows Explorer Drag and Drop Interface and you cannot share Internet Connections, Printers etc.
Just go for a Network Card and Ethernet Crossover Cable OP!0 -
