More Homebuy headaches. How petty?

Gazunder them! Tell them you absolutely steadfastly refuse to buy in this falling market if they don't drop their part by £50
-
That sounds absolutely crazy. It will cost them, you, the vendor, EVERYONE, way more than £5 to have to go through all of this again. Just keep phoning them and explain to them the situation, surely there are channels for this sort of thing?
If it doesn't work write to your local newspaper or something!0 -
I don't believe this. How can they quibble over a fiver? Are you sure the company hasn't gone into liquidation?Northants_Simon wrote: »I did think of that. But it won't work as I would then have to resubmit my application to Homebuy with the new price and wait for approval. Then wait for them to draw up a new contract (which takes them ages).
Sorry, but this is laughable and they simply Can't be Serious!0 -

When it's all over, I really think you're going to have to present someone with a 'It's more than my job's worth' award.
Honestly....talk about red tape overtaking common sense “Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

I emailed them yesterday, phoned them 4 times, faxed them, my solicitor called them and faxed them. And still they haven't given any idea if the sale will be allowed to go through. I even faxed over the Homebuy leaflet that clearly says I can put my own money towards the mortgage if I wanted to.
We had already set the completion date as the 27th and was just waiting for them to release the funds to the solicitor. They won't do this until we get an extra £5 from the Halifax.
So it's back to the Halifax to ask them to amend my mortgage offer by £5, then I have to wait for the solicitor to receive this and pass it to Keyhomes East. Who then have to look through it again and hopefully release the money (if they still have it by then).
If it falls through I will be out of pocket, the seller will be out of pocket and I'll be in breach of the contract regarding the completion date. All for five quid.0 -
OK, I have spoken to the Halifax to see why they reduced my mortgage offer by £5. They say they can only lend 85%, well I make 85% of £194000 to be £164900 and not £164895 as they claim.
Looks like I'm stuck as Halifax won't lend any more and Homebuy won't budge on us paying the £5.0 -
Thats is ridiculous... Can a third party be brought in? I'll take a 3rd charge on the mortgage and lend you a fiver. I expect to see a return of 300% by the time you sell though :P
Seriously though, you must be feeling like punching one of these idiotic companies in the teeth

Hmm. I have been thinking on this for 24 hours and still have no real ideas to free this log jam. Is there anything you are buying which is not part of the property? Curtains? That sort of thing? Would some deal whereby you pay the vendor £5 for something and drop the price by £5 do anything for you? After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union

I think the point is Incisor that any adjustment - even a fiver - would mean all the paperwork redoing - hence the hold up.
Can you go in person to the office of this idiot and speak to someone?0 -
Yes, it was wrong from the outset, but it must have looked correct from some perspective. So try and make reality match the mistaken perspective?I think the point is Incisor that any adjustment - even a fiver - would mean all the paperwork redoing - hence the hold up.
