Something I Didn't Expect From IceSave

Yesterday (09/10/08) my account was credited with Octobers interest, this came as a pleasant surprise as I assumed after Tuesday all interest would end.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before.

But the fact that its 100% covered is the key point surely or have I missed something?
It wouldn't be the first time for me.

It seems from the Are your savings safe article that you're covered for interest earned up to date of default:
Early indications form the FSCS are positive that all interest earned up until thy day of default will be paid as part of the compensation.

Make sure you've printed a statement off your online account for the FSCS process :)

Interesting, what was the exact date of default.

How are those of us who get out interest paid anually on our ISA's fixed?

send me a copy of your web page coding showing your statement and I'll add another £10,000 if you like and send it back to you.

It seems from the article (here - Icesave section) the date the FSA declared it in default was Tuesday 7th October.

As for the ISA, you'll get interest earned up to the date of default. The fact you get it paid annually doesn't mean you've not earned it yet.
  • I had a Easy Access Account with Icesave with interest, unfortunately, set to be paid annually. I have had the account for 10 months with no interest added yet so the balance shows just the original deposit. I will be relieved just to get the deposit back but assume I have lost out on interest for not having had it paid monthly.

My Easy Access account has interest paid annually. The anniversary of opening is next week! Typical, just my luck! However, more importantly, I will be relieved to get back what is currently in there and if any interest is added I will consider myself very fortunate.

I have two fixed rate savings accounts with them too, with each I elected to have interest paid monthly so I know I will get some at least.
