On a letter from our solicitor it says that we need a copy of our buildings insuance scehdule before he can proceed, but I have phoned numerous insurances companies incluidng my current one and asked for a copy and not one of them will send me a copy of this until i take the policy out which is fair enough, but i cant tell them what date we are moving because my solicitor doesnt know what date and says he cant proceed without this, so what am I suppsed to do, how am i going to get a insurance schedule without knowing when im moving in???

Why do they need it?0

Standard practice. You should have buildings insurance in place on the day you exchange contracts. You don't usually wait till you've moved in.
Our mortgage company required a copy at exchange which was provided through our solicitor.0 -
but how do i get when they wont even give a date?0
-
Have you exchanged contracts yet?
If so, that's the date the insurance should start (ie you have a live policy and paperwork).0 -
Ring the insurance company and book the insurance to start from !!4 weeks} hence - get them to fax the solicitor with the agreement of insurance starting from that date.
I think this is what we had to do. The insurance companies didn't mind doing this and knew exactly what the solicitor wanted (Was more than)0 -

thanks, thats what I have just done, i went with swinton, cant believe its actually cheaper than what we pay for now too, by £10 a month!0 -
Then you need to take out a policy with the expected exchange date as the start date and get the documents!0

Solicitor hasnt even given me an expected date just by the end of the month so i chose the date myself. its all sorted now.0

Make sure that you ring them as soon as you exchange and have the property insured from exchange.Pawpurrs x0
