Any CHAPS/BACS Come through since Tuesday - Kaupthing?

I watched working lunch and I'm still none the wiser. My money is still in cyberspace and not been returned to the savings account.

I did my CHAPS request at 2.15pm on 7th October (after their 2pm shutoff). Money still not arrived. Are my savings with ING or still with KP. ING officially took the reigns on 8th October. Do I need to get a claim in with the FSCS?

Many thanks
Terri

  • I strongly advise to sit tight - I don't believe you will have to put in a claim.

If you look at the Kaupthing website, you'll find that they advise they've got an admin back log.

'When Kaupthing Edge encountered difficulties, withdrawals were not able to be completed. This is now being resolved and we are in the process of clearing the backlog of pending transactions. ING Direct will honour all withdrawals as soon as possible.'

This is also repeated on the City Wire website.

I tried to move out my money - the money I am saving for a house deposit - on Tuesday evening. I went for BACS because I was just panicking and had never used CHAPS before, and I had waited an hour to get through to someone, so I just wanted it over with.

The girl on the phone was exceptionally professional and advised that it would take 3-4 days, and would mostly likely go through on Monday. I'm prepared for it to take a while longer whilst this back log is dealt with, but I don't reckon i'll have to put in a claim.

Thanks. I'm supposed to be exchanging on a house on Monday. I'm going to have to use my overdraft facility for this to happen. The really annoying thing is that I dont know how long it will be before the money comes back and how long I will have to fund the overdraft.

I've been fairly cool all week but today it has got to me! Will try and sit tight. :o
  • Hi Everyone
Just checked my bank account and the first transaction has now finally appeared (did it on Monday through BACS). Still waiting for Tuesday's transaction, but it's now looking very hopeful.
    Big sigh of relief.
