Economy7 meter vs Single Rate

Options
Can any one please advise, I currently have dual meters, standard and eco7. I No longer have any storage heaters and therefore no real use for the eco 7 meter. Should i get the meter changed to single meter to obtain the best tariffs or does it not matter. British Gas my elec supplier cannot tell me (they dont knew). Why are eco 7 customer prevented from accessing the best tariffs this surly is a con?.

Many firms just leave the meters as they are take the two readings, but just bill you as single rate.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

I believe BG are one of the suppliers that will allow you to have a single rate tariff even if you have a dual rate meter (E7 meter).

You should be able to work out for yourself which tariff better suits you.

You already have the cost for E7 as that is what you are billed on.

Now add the 2 consumption figures together, multiply by the single tariff unit rate, allow for any discounts and see what the result is.

If you wish to switch tariffs, call BG and they will switch you.

  • Much easier to get your supplier to change to a single credit meter - it's free. E7 is firmly out of favour now. Unless you are nocturnal there seems little point in paying a premium for daytime electricity (which you do) just to save a few pennies by putting your dishwasher or other on at night. The BEST electricity deals are for single credit meters - as I found out when I ditched my E7 meter.
