London travel with student

I’m taking my 18 year old student niece to London for two days (Mon 10th – Tues 11th Nov) I gave her “Trip to London & any west end show of her choice” for her 18th birthday, so we are off to see Dirty dancing
:j
As for getting about London - it looks as if an oyster card is the best option for me, but rather confused about her - she is at college in Norwich, so would like to know what is the best card to get her - could she get any student discounts?
As it’s my treat id like to sort it before we go if possible.
Thanks !

Find out if she has a young person's railcard (they're just over £20, you could always get one for her as an extra gift as it's valid for a year and means she gets 20% off trains anywhere - worthwhile if she's likely to make several trips)
Some bank accounts give students a five year card when they open a student account, and lots of students buy them so check if she has one.
If she does, then buy a day's travelcard which means you can travel around all day on buses and tubes. I assume you're staying central which means you'd get zones 1 and 2 only, but living further out i don't know the price of this. But with mine i save over £3. don't travel before 10am or you can't use a railcard and it's twice as expensive!
If i'm right with an oyster if you go on so many trips in one day that it reaches the price of a travelcard it stops there.. that is probably best for you, and if she hasn't got a travelcard, that's probably best for her too.
You can buy a student oyster, but it wouldn't be worth it because it costs £5.
Other than that... if your next destination isn't far away, take some time to walk to it (maybe grab an a-z or something), tube stops really aren't always far apart. It still amazes me how lazy some people can be! Walking means you'll see so much more of london, get some fresh (or not so fresh) air, exercise, less lung pollution from the tubes and learn your way around! i'm sure you'll stumble across some amazing things you wouldn't have thought of seeing!0 -
There are no discounts via Oyster for a non-London student (you have to be at a registered London educational establishment to be able to apply for a Student Oyster).
HOWEVER, if she has a Young Persons Rial Card, she can get this put on her Oyster card and get hte YP discount on tube/bus/tram travelApril Grocery Challenge £81/£1200
