Cheshire BS 1 Year Bond

Help needed please.

The Cheshire has a good rate of 6.8% fixed for a year. As it is to be taken over by The Nationwide in the new year, will Nationwide be under any obligation to keep the same rate?

Of course they would - all fixed rate contracts are honoured in such circumstances, variable rate accounts can be adjusted into line as required.

That said, the rate will probably be pulled in a few days so if you are interested get in quick.

  • Hi. I opened one of these yesterday as I like to keep a mixture of fixed and variable rate accounts. I was told that next Monday the rate will be dropped to 6.0%, so you have just today and tomorrow if you want to fix at 6.8%.

    Hi, snootyagouti from another newbie.

Popped down to my local branch this afternoon and and deposited some spare cash into one. Not normally busy in there but it was today, member of staff said it was proving a very popular account since the bank rate went down.

Move fast for any high fixed rates. 7% online for 6 months at Halifax.
