Take it to at least two jewellers and get an estimate on its value ginga - tell them you don't want to sell it so they give you a good valuation rather than telling you how much they want to give you for it.

You could always sell it to them afterwards if you want to but definately have an idea of its value before you decide what to do with it online. They will be able to give you a little more info on it which will help your listing too
Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/155
  • ginga, it may also be worth taking to your local auction house if you have one near by.
A friend gave my 13 year old son an old ring and bracelet that belonged to her husbands ex, to sell on ebay or car boot etc to go towards him buying new archery equipment, we took it to two jewellers who werent really interested as they came from Elizabeth Duke (Argos).
Anyway we gave our local auction a go and got £130 for the bracelet and £50 for the ring, needless to say he was well pleased

Im sorting out more baby / toddler stuff for the latest NCT sale tomorrow. This one is great for children clothes, and I have 3 ikea bags full of outgrown toys too.
The NCT is the National Childbirth Trust (google it for details of sales dates in your areas!), and you can sell (and buy) even if you are not a member. they all do things slightly differently, but at this one, I will label my items tonight using their proforma labels, will take my stuff and put it out on various tables. Then Ill go to the beach with the family for a couple of hours. Ill then go back and pack away my unsold items, and help sort out other peoples too, then go home, and wait for the cheque. They will take 30%, but its a great charity, and we'll both be happy!!

The hardest part is making sure that all the toddler toys have all their bits!!

Ill let you know how I do. I totally recommend it - there is no agro, no late payments, and no post office lines!!

Thanks for this thread - just checked greenmetropolis and all my books have been deleted - need to relist them all:eek:

Have been taking photographs and started listing on Ebid (until the photouploader stopped working  )
Need to sort out everything to find what's good enough to try and sell and work out how to get decent, not out of focus photos from my my zoomless digital camera.

*goes to drag box of books to the computer, and grab armful of cds*
