Am I being scammed?

  • Why would anyone want to pay shipping costs etc for an average car, when it would be cheaper to buy abroad.

I wonder if they get your bank details somehow from the bankers draft. I would still be hesitant in even putting it in the account.
If it is fake I dont know if the bank protects the money. I would have thought the banks would be up on scams. When I got a dodgy company trying to take £1 from my account I got the bank ringing up and asking me about it. I thought that was pretty hot of the bank.
If you find something irritating in my post or that you disagree with, then please don't jump on me ,just please ignore my post.I have come to the site for useful information and not to argue. thanks.

I am going to play along and basically say that I am happy to sell him the Car as long as he is happy that I won't release the Car until the funds are cleared in my account. I will see where he goes from there.

With all respect, why waste your time? If the bogus buyer is living abroad, there is very little the Police will be able to do anyway.

Better to spend the time giving your car a good clean and polish and make it as attractive as possible to genuine UK buyers.
  • scam scam scam.. a mate of mine got caught out by this... only found out four months after when the money from the draft was reclaimed from his account, on the grounds that it wqas fake....
  • i really don't get how the bank can whip your cash away.

a bankers draft is meant to be a secure way of transfering money, as good as cash. If the bank clear the funds then surely if they then find out 4 months down the line that it s a fake then it is their problem, not yours. why do you have to pay for a bankers draft if it is not better than a cheque?

He has come back to me saying that he will give me a Bankers draft for £5000 more than the Car is worth so that I can pass it on to the shipper blah blah blah :rotfl:

I am tempted to reply for fun but I think that I will just delete the e-mail and ignore him.
