Can anyone please advise. I have a Sony VA10. All of a sudden the disc drive wont burn to a disc but it will read and write music and play a DVD. If I cannot find the solution to this problem if I purchased an external USB DVD burner would this work. Many Thanks for your help.

Yes.
When you try to burn a DVD what happens? Do you get any error messages?0 -
Thanks for your reply. When I attempt to burn a message comes up "Insert disc in drive" and the drive shoots open. Thank You.0

There are 2 types of dvd disk, DVD - R(W) and DVD + R(W)
The + and - are significant as it depicts what type of laser the drive uses. If your drive says - you can only use - disks and + with + disks. If its a new drive it might do both which would mean this is not the ploblem, but check you are using the right type of disk for you drive first. Also try using a lens cleaner, and if its still not working a USB one should work fine0
