Very odd experience applying for an Egg money card.

I just went to do an online application for the Egg money card. I was rather confused by the web interface. Which was odd. After selecting "I have not applied for an Egg card before" and filling in name, postcode and date of birth is went through to a screen for secure log on. Obviouslly, being a new customer then I couldn't log on. After a few attempts at this I tried the old postcode and I then went through to a more logical application request.

So I phoned up Egg to ask for help. After them asking me a lot of questions they said that "I" had applied for a card back in 2001, so I was regarded as a returning customer. I don't recall doing that at all.

Could this have been a fraudelent application using my name and address?

Their fraud team are going to look into it tomorrow.
