Neighbour Problems

It's strange that they have suddenly started complaining after being there for a year. Have you upset them over something else like a garden fence etc?

Thing is, if it came to anything then the council would need to try and get other witness'. If you are doing DIY and playing loud music then other neighbours would hear whether their walls are on yours or not
They did ask us to move the car a few times when we first moved in. There aren't any official parking spaces here, but everyone has a space they see as 'theirs', where as we'd come from the inner-city where it was basically a free-for-all.
Once we got our heads round suburban living it seemed to be fine. We haven't really seen them for several months, and prior to that it was just "Hi" in the street.
They did have a disagreement with another person on our estate - loud argument at the door one evening, but we don't know what that was about.DEBT FREE! Sep '08/£9,800 in Oct '06 :beer:0 -
I'm not saying they dressed up as the police, but got a genuine friend in uniform to stop by after work.
Ah, understood, sorry, been up since 6am *yaaaaaawn*
Well it will all become apparent when he goes to the police station tomm to complain..
That would be interesting!DEBT FREE! Sep '08/£9,800 in Oct '06 :beer:0 -
Also, they have been trying to sell their house for about three months now.
Surely this won't help, as you are supposed to disclose any neighbour disputes on the Seller Property Information Form.
Even though the dispute is pretty one sided at present!DEBT FREE! Sep '08/£9,800 in Oct '06 :beer:0 -

Are you sure you are not just complaining about the police officer because you are mad at a neighbour?
You have a complaint(s) against you so you want to be seen as being reasonable people. Complaining about someone talking to you about the issue will not enhance anyone's opinion of you.

We have a neighbour who constantly complains to environmental health about our 'apparent diy' - the fact that we aren't actually doing any is by the by - the moment they hear any diy noise they assume it is us, despite the fact that our other neighbours are outside with a circular saw going, we are getting the blame! We have been and had a meeting with environmental health about this and they have been excellent (although it has taken some time for them to realise that neighbour is not being truthful) - NFH is now seen for what they are - causing trouble and harrassing us to try and stop us from building an extension (which isn't currently started and has planning permission but they don't want it). We had to involve the police as they have tried to assault us, when that scaring tactic didn't work, that was when they resorted to environmental health. All of this started through us parking in 'their parking space' when we moved in ( not an allocated space just the space they like to park in) - good luck! Environmental health can be great if you can get to talk to them and explain the problem.0

Introducing yourself with "You're know what we're here for" and warning my partner he could lose his taxi badge if he gets an ASBO he felt set a prejudicial tone to what should have been the officer, like you say, talking to my OH about our neighbour's allegations.
Like I said, my fella is a taxi driver, so is used to people talking to him like crap, but he feels this went over and above that.
We aren't mad at the neighbour TBH, more baffled.DEBT FREE! Sep '08/£9,800 in Oct '06 :beer:0 -

Christ they go out to a domestic violence situation and still speak to the person who has done the violence in a calm manner and gives then a chance for their side....hmmm, what a strange situation
You've obviously never had the police to a domestic violence incident then.
My experience comes from 8 years ago but ive experienced both sides from the police, in the fact that they were really agressive and put my ex into hand cuffs and banged him into every wall on the way to the van, and were very abusive to him(not that i'm complaining).
Then i had an officer tell me to stop making up stories(funny not bad with a broken nose, black eye, and hair missing), and that my ex seemed like a lovely young man.
I know someone who got done for putting the boot in when he was putting someone into his cell because he had committed domestic violence.
On the neighbours - i wouldn't worry too much, try not to let them upset you too much, perhaps there trying to provoke you to do something stupid. Neighbours hey thats why i said next time we move it will be to a detached house.0 -
This site - https://www.gardenlaw.co.uk/phpBB2/index.php - is worth looking at. Lots of experience of weird neighbours and useful free advice.0

I have neighbours who really do make noise, I'm talking about having my whole family up and sitting in the living room at 5am because we've all been woken up.
I called the police who told me they can't get involved as they have no powers, if they called at the neighbours they would be within their rights to tell the police to go away and they would have to! (This might not be the same for your area though so don't try it!).
We also don't have an out of hours noise dept.
Surely they would have to prove that you were making noise?? Keeping diary sheets isn't proving anything, they could make what they like up.If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in
