Talk Talk opinions required!

I have been with Talk Talk for 2 years because of the cost although I have found the Technical support very poor at times.
Today I have received 2 identical calls stating that if I "Renew my contract" for 18 months they will guarantee to keep the existing price. I felt that they were threatening to put up the price if I did not agree.
I refused but would like other people's opinions.
Thank you.

    Check out their prices online?
They are just doing what insurance companies do,sending you the same price as last time in the hope you will be too busy to compare.
They can't force you to pay more,it's a buyers market.

We have just changed internet provider but my OH still managed to get the price down some more.Basically we did our research and he kept ringing the company up,speaking to different advisers till they offered him lower and lower prices. All in the same evening,so its about haggling.Mind you,he did dangle "we have our mac code and will place the order tonight".

Have to say they use some very naughty tactics including offering you a price for a lower spec package than you have requested (making the unwary think they are getting a bargain until you question them fully),trying to get me to give them the mac code (no way),and offering the price for what was a 10mb package when I requested 40mb.The comparison sites were useless btw.Mse forums were very helpful.
He got £25 off the connection fee and an additional £60 off the years call package by haggling. He got them to repeat the price and package about three times , we made a note of the advisers name and the time.

Edit-just ringing them now to confirm all the prices with someone else-if not as stated we will cancell within 7 days under the distance selling regs.Double edit-they cocked it up but have now put it right at another saving to me of an extra £7 amonth..

Youv'e got to remember = Talk Talk are not the 'Sharpest Knife' in the draw, And EVERYTHING you say you have to say 5 TIMES to them.

As English is not their Forte!!

Why 18 months what difference does that make??

  • I have no idea what difference it would make as they could not answer when I asked.
They offered me a £15 Router if I promised to stay with them for another 18 months. I declined!!! They were both calling from uk.
