The have a go at Jon Snow thread

Martin's responses to Jon Snow's deliberately awkward questions were clear and concise as always. How hypocritical of Jon Snow to start by tapping Martin's expert knowledge (as he put it), before trying to stitch him up.
The interview was shockingly ill-informed and clearly under-researched, made worse by the last minute editorial decision to switch from utilising Martin as a commentator, to someone they could blame.
My Politically-Correct-O-Meter went off the scale when they began exploiting the man in the wheelchair for extra effect, while wrongly implying that he had been affected by Martin's advice.
Jon Snow's inability to get the website address correct to me just summed up the complete lack of knowledge he had on the subject, stumbling his words several times.
Maybe Martin should follow Alex Ferguson's example and not do any more interviews with ITN/ITV News until they drag their sensationalist news coverage out of the gutter.0 -
Snow and Paxman are the consummate interviewers. Martin absolved himself very well indeed, particularly when Jon Snow was quoting outdated facts.
As for the retired solicitor, Mr. Burton. It 's not relevant that he was in a wheelchair except: it was quite a smart move by the editorial team because it wouldn't look good if the government were to tell the disabled we don't care about your savings would it?
They could of course had some right wing economist who could have likened it to gambling or a government minister who could only waffle.
Yes, C4 know their agenda.
Thank goodness for Snowy and Paxo.

Not sure I agree with the verdict on Snow - or Paxo. It is good to have incisive interviewers. But too often, instead of seeking informed analysis from their interviewees (which Martin would in this case have been very capable of providing), the Jon Snow style, very evident on this occasion, was to take the tabloid-style cheap-shot option of "who was to blame". And the choice of studio guests (financial journalist/expert-deserving-the-criticism, and unfortunate-victim-deserving-of-sympathy) was such a cliche setup. Media manipulation? Surely not!
And Martin acquitted himself well. Absolution is something else entirely...
