In 1975 an Icelandic gunboat opened fire on British fishing vessels in the 'Cod War'. They wanted all the cod for themselves. Now this little island wants to keep all our money! Iceland has grown even smaller in the world's opinion. I believe, thanks to the Government, that we will get all our money back. Yes, we will lose the interest on our savings but we can thank Cod that all is not lost.
Now, gather together all the documentary evidence you have of your savings with Icesave. Keep an eye on the Financial Services Compensation Scheme website

Be prepared for the form(s) they will issue. Be prepared for the tedious form filling and ID checks. Reconcile yourself to a long wait to get your money back. Meanwhile treat yourself to a cod 'n chips supper and imagine that we are eating Icelandic cod that they failed to catch.
Just trying to relieve the tension. I've got £30,000 lost in that land of ice and fire and now wondering if cod liver oil is safe to take.
Don't worry folks. All will work out fine in the end.
