Sky+ vs Terrestrial - Picture quality question....

Dave,
Will it be marked on the scart slots at the back of the TV or in the instruction manual, which slots are RGB and not?
I just imagined a new TV would have all singing all dancing slots lol (silly me!)
Donna - Did you get that thread I posted in the other Sky thread? (Sounds confusing I know!)John

yeah, i saw it. they always fob us off when we try and get a deal and we have been with them since 1990.0 -
Don't try to get a deal - Just go through to cancelations and say you want to cancel. Let them do the offering - Don't go seeking it. That's what I've done every time. I've also been told by a Sky worker who gave me a deal, that your entitled to one every 6 months (i.e 1/2 price sports/movies)
In the last 3 - 4 years I've had:
Half price movies once (for 3 months)
Half price Sports twice (for 3 months)
A free Sky+ box (they wanted me to pay for engineer to come out at £70 odd - I told them to ram it!)
It's a horrible game to play to save a few quid but needs must.John

Rare to be marked up. Most tvs actually have 2 scarts, scart 1 being RGB and scart 2 being composite only (video). The instruction manual will tell you for sure, but MOST tvs will flash up RGB when connected that way (Not all though). 3 scart tvs are usually RGB scarts 1 AND 2, whilst 3 will be composite.:idea:0 -
As Rik says, have a look in your instruction manual.
Or you could tell us the make/model and we could probably find out for you.Dave. :wave:0 -
Don't forget many channels on satellite are not full resolution and are all mostly over compressed, so they aren't going to look great on a large screen. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

Donna - It's risky, but if the cancellation did go through, I would just get my wife to rejoin!
aliEnRIK - Cheers for that mate. Mine does have 2 x scarts and 3 x hdmi's. I'll have to check out which scart is which.
Dave - It's the 42LG5010.
Bex - I never even thought of that - I just assumed Sky would be better. My Missus was actually watching channels 1, ITV and 4 on and off. She could've actually watched them on terrestrial but it's a matter of principle!

I have a 42LG5010 and sky picture is perfect on most but not as good on some channels. My Sky in plugged into Scrat # 1 which is RGB.
On my TV, picture quality from Sky "good" channels is as good as DVD which is plugged into Scart # 2."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Cheers mate - I'll check the scarts when I get home.
My DVD is plugged in via HDMI so I expect that picture will be better than my Freeview or my Sky anyway!
Incidentally, what's your opinion on the TV overall?John
