Best way to go about getting a debit card?

I am 16 years old (soon to be 17) and I want to get a debit card. What is the best way to go about getting one. I've got a current account a nationwide now but they won't let me get a debit card yet as I'm apparently not old enough yet.
I know that is not true as some of my friends have debit cards and I was just wondering what the best bank to get a debit card from soon and how should I go about getting it?
Thanks for any help.

HSBC or Lloyds for me.
HSBC are better I feel but both are fine.
HSBC you will get a solo debit card (soon to be visa). Lloyds you will get a visa debit card.0 -
I got a student account, with overdraft, at 16. Don't ask me how.. I am not 100% sure..!
Nationwide wouldn't give me a debit card, so I went to barclays and they said they could give me one! (but i think they made a mistake) I think they're meant to give debit cards anyway, without making any mistakes.
