Unpaid Electricity for EON
Options
Hi
Just wondered if anyone else has dealt with a similar problem I am having with EON.
I switched supplier in January from EON to Southern Electric and heard nothing from EON following this, no final bill or anything. Was paying them £77 a month for dual fuel, so just assumed no amount was oustanding.
Then in July they sent a bill for nearly £200 for electric I had used from January. I phoned to explain I had switched, they tried to deny it and I had to get Southern Electric to confirm this. Then they passed the debt to a debt collection agengy, only calling them off after more phone calls from me to try to make them see sense. In August they agreed it was their mistake and promised not to contact me again.
Then in Sept another bill for now about £300, this time I phoned the complaints dept and eventually she agreed to recalculate the amount and said I still owed £100 for electric used before I switched which they never billed me for.
After so much messing about and them admitting previously it was their mistake I'm wondering wether this new amount is a true amount especially as I have no way of checking.
Should I just bite the bullet and pay up and put it down to experience or try to fight it further?

You must have submitted final readings? That's what Southern would have used as their opening reading - you should be able to calculate from the last bill from Eon.0

Never got a final bill from Eon, the last bill we got was in october 07DMP Support Thread Member 238DMP started October 20080

But the initial readings from Southern Elec would be the final readings from Eon so you can calculate the units used from the Oct 07 bill to the switch. Make sure it matches up with what Eon are charging you.0

They should be able to send you a bill to confirm what it is your paying for - it should be the same as the opening readings for your new supplier.
It may be that they didn't receive these readings for a while (can take a while as they go through a 3rd party to ensure both suppliers use the same readings) but you should see a bill amount and confirm the dates/readings before paying up.Dannii_B
