Roof Insulation Poll

In the many threads about condensation and dampness. I have noticed that people are saying, that in this day and age, they still apparently do not have any roof insulation.
I thought that it might be an interesting exercise to do a poll on the subject. If anyone is interested.
1) No insulation.
2) 50mm to 100mm.
3) 100mm to 150mm
4) 150mm to 200mm
5) Over 200mm
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I think the results might be distorted though - the sort of people who use this site are more likely to have insulation, maybe?

My friend asked me only yesterday if I thought it was a good idea for them to get loft insulation. "You mean MORE loft insulation?" - No, she meant SOME loft insulation. Oh dear. Perhaps it should simply be compulsory.

I've had trouble convincing friends to get it. They have draughty cold houses, that never get cosy warm, and big bills to go with it. I meanwhile have a house that stays warm with low bills. Sadly because people can't see the insulation, they just don't believe its working!

You have a very valid point there, solar panels and wind turbines are much more conspicuous !

We have 2 layers which come to about 6" in total. We are going to do a loft conversion in the near future and hence I'm not too concerned about making it up to 270mm.
