Online check in Ryanair??? (also Charles Stewart Guesthouse)

Ok, just booked a flight to dublin for me and the wifey only cost 4p return but had to pay 16 quid booking fee with my visa, i dont have electron and that would have olny been £4. Any way its a good deal never the less.

I have opted for online check in and tried to click the link that was sent to me via terms and condtions confirmation email, the link is not working i just get a error.

anyway, we are going on the 18th november, can some ome tell me what i have to do to 'check in' online please, never done this before.

also i have booked to stay at the Charles Stewart guest house any one know how nice it is there please.

looking forward to going to dublin for 2 nights never been to ireland before.

  • Hi Silkyuk9,

Ryanair's online check-in is only available 5 days before the flight, so you'll be able to do it from 13th November.

You log in with the confirmation number you got when booking and your passport details, then print off a boarding card and thats you!

Just used it for the first time for a £21 return flight to Poland and it worked like clockwork!

To be honest with you I wouldnt spend too much time around Parnell Street/Square where you are staying , not the best of areas . You are about a 15/20 minute walk to Temple Bar area and Grafton street is another 5 minutes onwards

Have fun and look on tripadvisor Dublin on " things to do "

Have Fun and do the hop on hop of bus tour of the city . you get it in o`connell street . 10 minutes on the left hand side from your hotel

Yep, Parnell Street is a bit rough – I wouldn't walk down it too late at night, and I'd avoid straying into Gardiner Street at all costs! (I used to live in Dublin and that part of the Northside is NOT nice – I initially lived around 10 mins walk further North of Parnell Street before defecting to the far preferable Southside!). ;)

As already recommended, cross the bridge to the Southside where you'll find Trinity College, Temple Bar, Grafton Street and St Stephen's Green, all of which are far nicer areas to be in! Temple Bar is a bit touristy and hence prices in pubs etc reflect that. (A little known fact is that pubs in Dublin can charge what they like for drinks as long as the prices are displayed at or outside the door!).

The streets around Grafton Street and St Stephen's Green are crammed with pubs, cafes and restaurants. Entertainment-wise you could try the Guinness Storehouse – http://www.guinness-storehouse.com/ – pricey but you get the best views of Dublin from the top of it.

You could visit Dublin Castle, Trinity College or Kilmainham Gaol (info on the link below) and if you like a bit of Viking history, there's Christchurch Cathedral.

For shopping try Grafton Street or Henry Street (pedestrianised street on your right as you walk away from your hotel down O'Connell Street).

If you let us know what you like doing, or what kind of restaurants you like etc I'm sure we can recommend some other things.

Thanks for that very interesting. We are only going for 2 nights so we will just look around. I suppose during the day time it will be ok where we are stayng won't it?? Im sure every city has its black spots during the night hours, we wont be clubbing or staying out all night. I only booked this guesthouse as i went onto holiday watchdog and everyone seems to say its a nice place.

However, can you give me a bit more info on the surrounding area of the Chalres Stewart. I like to be prepared when i go anywhere.

Basically the area is a little bit rough – despite some recent regeneration, the Northside has always been more deprived and run down than the Southside (although there are some less than desirable areas there too).

There are a number of dubious hostels in the Gardiner Street area and the Summerhill area should be avoided at all costs (poor and rough estates, rampant drug and knife culture – heroin addiction is rife in poorer areas of Dublin).

If you're walking down O'Connell Street away from your hotel and towards town, avoid the streets to its left and you should be absolutely fine! Henry St on the right has a shopping area leading to some nice coffee shops/bars – that's about as far North as I ever liked to stray (even when I lived Northside!). Southside, George's St (off Dame St) has some great restaurants – if you like Mexican food, 'Acapulco' is a must! – and if I've scared you too much, conveniently there is a taxi rank on Dame St (gets very busy after 11pm). ;)

Despite the rather negative posts, Dublin is an absolutely awesome (if rather pricey!) city – good pubs, cafes, restaurants etc and in general a nice compact city to walk around. Have a great time!

had friends stay at the charles stuart a couple of years ago, who rated it 2-3 stars. Not terrible but not luxurious. depends what you're looking for, and this may be out of date by now.
as posted above, stay southside after dark, but definitely visit Pravda, the best bar in dublin.
