Roller blind beads slipping

I've just tried to pull down my roller blind and there was a click and now the beads on the side aren't doing anything - they're just loose from the mechanism. Can I repair this myself? Do I have to take the blind down to do it or can I somehow mend it in situ? Any advice please?

Hi Serida
Not an expert by any means but I did manage to fix my daughter's blind when the same thing happened. You have to pop the blind out of the wall bracket. Then there will be some sort of cover plate covering the mechanism. If you work out how to remove this - mine just pulled off - you should see that the chain has just slipped out of a kind of circular cog. Just pop it back in, check it now operates and reassemble. Daughter's has been fine since.

Thank you busymumof3. I took the blind down and pulled out the mechanism from the blind but the circular cog where the chain had slipped out seems to be permanently sealed to the rest of the mechanism so I cannot feed the chain back. I phoned the suppliers (Blindscape) as I have only had the blind a few weeks and they very kindly said they will put new fittings in the post for me. Just hope the same thing doesn't happen again. I will be very careful in future to pull it up and down very slowly.0
