As kittie says, you need to look at the trade type, UT is the result of an auction, in this case the closing auction. It consists of matching many individual orders, not a single "investor" and the buy/sell indicator is essentially meaningless for uncrossing trades.0

Eitherway they lost £2 million or 20% of their money in a day.0 -
How have they lost any money? Surely they will only lose money if they have to sell them at less than they paid for them. Perhaps they are able to hold onto them until the price rises and they can take a nice profit0

Well when we speak of the value of someting we mean the value at the present time.

unless the lloyds tsb deal falls through, hbos goes bankrupt and the shares become worthless

Don't forget that for every share that was sold this week, there was a buyer making the opposite bet that the seller was.0
