Hi, trying to transfer some photos from an old pc which runs on Windows 98 onto my laptop which runs on XP. Just bought a data transfer stick as advised at Staples but it doesn't work! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If your old PC is connected to the Internet, you can upload the files to a file hosting website and then download them to the new PC. If it has a CD burner, you can burn them to a CD. Too obvious?0

The data stick uses usb which is not available in Win98, BUT if you can find the correct drivers then you can use usb in Win98.
Try the manufacturers website first.
I had this problem but my drive came with a small CD with win98 drivers, I found the following by using Google, but use at your own risk.

Windows has had USB support since Windows 95 OSR2, but I suggest you read this article to ascertain whether you will be able to manage it:

or network the 2 puters and transfer the photos.
you can do this via your router. put a lan cable (ethernet) on the old puter direct into the router. assuming you have a lan port?Get some gorm.0 -
Thanks everyone. The old computer is not connected to the internet and doesn't have a rewriter. Nor does it have an ethernet connection. That old!
Any other ideas please. Hate to lose all those old photos.Ta.0 -
