pardon? what's going on?
All recruitment has stopped - internal and external, departments are short staffed and cant cope.
MBNA no longer own any building they operate from, when Bank of America "merged" with them, they were all sold off to some insurance company or other, and they rent them back.
Many departments have already closed - Loans, Business lending (or near enough has)No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

i agree somthing is definately up with mbna! we had the very random 40% f&f call followed by the 30ish % letter! I am really chuffed! and they also seem to be generally helpful at the moment!!0

Hi everyone, read the various posts on MBNA,
Has anyone been asked to increase their minimum payment, I owe 2800, was paying 3% anf have now had a letter to say they are increasing my minimum payment to 5%.
Of course, as hard as this will be it will mean the debt will be repaid quicker, but it is going to be very hard. Just wondered if anyone else had had such a letter?0 -
There may have been a problem with them for a while. I started my dmp in January and MBNA have been no problem at all since then. They were the first to accept and freeze interest and the only contact I've had from them was a potential default notice issued in April. Heard nothing other than that.
I offered them a 35% f&f a while ago but am still waiting to hear from them. Until I read this thread, I thought I had no hope of it being accepted but maybe it will be now.

hi happy,
not sure if mbna and virgin are one and the same!?? sure someone will be along who can advise shortly!
dont call thema and ask for a f&f as they will tell you eeverything you want to hear to get you to pay, then chase you for the supposed wiped off amount later! you need to get everything in writing.have a look at this link here:

there is a template letter you can use to send to your creditor, plus info on f&f.0 -
Yep, make sure you get the offer in writing before sending any money and also make sure that they mark your credit file as satisfied and that neither they nor any associate or third party will chase you for the remainder in the future. MBNA have a habit of saying that they won't mark your file as satisfied as they say they can't or it's illegal. This is not true.
It is better to write to them rather than call as mentioned above.
MBNA "administer" (if that is the right word) Virgin credit cards I believe.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Thats about the size of it - they have an agreement. They have the same agreement with A&L.
As for the 5% min payment, this is across the entire customer base i believe - supposedly beacuse it reduces more of the debt as the min payment previously was all charges plus a fiver.
Happy - I may be wrong on this, but i cant really see them saying ok to 40% if you havnt demonstrated that your struggling - ie already with payplan or in a dmp.No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

Useful thread, I have a payplan dmp and 2 MBNA debts on there, I haven't had any calls or harrassments from them. I wonder if I will get any letters soon (not that I have a stash) but it would be nice if I could pay these debts off one day at such a lower rate too!0
