Had some info yesterday that MBNA are currently not voting on IVA proposals as they are themselves struggling financially in the current economy.
Don't know how true this is but if it is right i hope they get as much sympathy and support as they offered to the individuals indebted to them who found themselves in difficulty.

MBNA struggling?....what a shame!
I doubt it though....For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -
There is actually a hint of truth in the rumours
Not that I work there or anything.
Wonder how much the redundancy is:think:No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

I think there may be some truth in this.
Myself and OH both have a cc wth them and we are (kind of) on a DMP. Balances are around £2k an £7.5k. I say "kind of" on DMP cos for one reason and another, we havent been able to pay or deposit for the last two/three months, but when we first started DMP in March, MBNA were one of the first to accept it. Since we have not been able to pay them anything, a series of letters has arrived over the last few weeks:
First letter: We cannot accept x amount but can accept x and this will prevent your account from defaulting. Ignored this as couldn't afford more.
Second letter: We are offering you a ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY TO SETTLE YOUR DEBT BY REDUCING YOUR BALANCE BY 40%! Again, we ignored this as didn't have the money.
Third letter : Received yesterday offering a full and final settlement figure of 35% so thats £640 on a debt of just under £2k and £2,625 on a debt of £7,500. My dad has offered us the money so we are biting their hands off.
We are hoping some more of our accounts can be settled this way - the lady at MBNA told me that more and more banks would accept these low f&f in the current climate. Here's hoping.0 -
Interesting keep us all updated.......
well done loopylu on getting a good settlement....0 -
mmmm! MBNA are my largest creditor - I owe them about £9k and have been paying them via my DMP.
Here's hoping they might accept my low F&F offer...Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
Mortgage free since 2014

Wow! those are fab offers, keep us posted on the outcome. I have a CC debt with them for just under £3K and would love to receive some sort of F&F letter for 35%, would find the money from somewhere (beg, borrow if possible from family member).
Good luck with it.Long Hauler No: 51

Seem to be more than one person receiving these letters at the moment - cash poor at the moment?Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0

They are our biggest creditors also. I think we owe them about 12k in all. However as we are paying via DMP so I dont think they will offer us a settlement figure as they are getting cash out of us.However I will wait and see, I am hoping to offer f and f to everybody within the next 12-24 months, I would LOVE to be debt free this time next year!Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0
