Nothing at all - I love accents and find them fascinating to listen to - despite being decidedly English myself! However, although I do love them they can make conversation rather difficult to follow if you are not used to them:o No offense intended or meant: I'm not racist, clannish or snobbish or any of the other things that might be suggested that would mean I had meant my comment in a derrogatory fashion:o

LOL another Norf Lundener here. I love trawlermen and I think they do an amazong job - much respect to them, the skipper looks like he never sleeps and the worry they might not get paid, you always feel pleased that they catch enough fish to pay them a wage,

Anyhow, I struggle too I am afraid and I do have to ask my husband 'what did he say' or rewind the Sky+ as I miss it.

I do not think it should be taken as critism though, just a comment, I used to like CM but I've not listened now I am not driving the kids to school so I cannot really be bothered to tune in. There are a while load more languages I cnanot understand either, being stuck in the country side you tend not to meet many people with accents and I really do struggle. Sorry.

Sometimes it is hard for others to tune into strong accents - I have had similar issues with my accent. I didn't take umbrage at the person that found it hard to understand me though!

However, often people with strong accents moderate them somewhat, and speak slightly slower, possibly unintentionally, when away from home - so it quite possible that understanding the trawlermen chatting to one another is tougher than someone in Florida understanding a similar but modified accent.

    Fuss about nothing.
  • wow - what a waste of a thread - how is this saving me money?
