You refer to and are named after something 300 years ago, I think, in context, that your view of short term might be warped....
Also that's just your opinion of what Might Happen in the future. Guarantee your 'alternative' will become reality and people mgiht listen.
All banks fractional reserve and are permitted to create money.
My opinion of what might happen in the future....is actually what is happening now. Look at it. Sadly people don't seem to think a solution is a good idea.
The results show you want a little interest now for alot of tax in the future.
The solution is there, but if you don't want it I agree you should not be made to swallow it. BUT if the nationalised banks start lowering savings rates you will know what the government is trying to do have a think before you pull your money out.0

I'd rather read well researched information from authorised sources and intelligent knowledgeable people.
Anyone can trawl the web and post something to defend their cause, that is the problem with the internet.0

I strongly advise to to do so.
Have a quick think though, when the bank makes a loan to someone does the balance of your savings account go down? Or is this money in two places at once, all be it digitialy?
What if they withdraw their digital money in paper? Does your balance go down?
What if you both withdraw your money does someone elses balance go down?
So it can't be the same money in both places, the money has been doubled!!
Aslong as only a tiny fraction of people only ever ask for paper or coin, other peoples balances don't go down. If more than a few do, that is a run on the bank and the digital money you used to have is quickly gone as fast as the repo man can take the computers.0
