Is there anything that you can do to improve the quality of music files on your computer.

I suggest 192 bit rate.
MP3 is never ever CD Quality anyway...0 -

Common misconception. 128kbps is around radio quality.
Truth is you'll never truly get cd quality as you're compressing a track. To get as close as possible I'd recommend 320kbps with the LAME encoder.
However, I find 192kbps, or 224kbps both done variably to be a good trade-off for quality to file size.
And in answer to the OP, not really. Once you've compressed a track you can't get back the data that has been lost. Best thing is to re-encode your music at a higher bit rate."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
