    is this shower electric??

    or thermostatic mixer type shower?

common problem for electric type showers would be lime scale, if the heat exchanger in the shower has become scaled up, this will have an effect on the performance of the shower.

short answer, replace the shower if it cost you less than £100 pounds as replacement parts would probaly cost more than a new unit.

would also recommend installation of in-line scale inhibitor, personaly i use a magnetic type(not perfect but better than no protection at all!)

costs range between 30.00+vat - 70.00+vat (from plumb centre price list), might be cheeper to try local diy shops - just a thought...

if thermostatic mixer shower, it be wort checking to see if you have any filters on the incoming side of the hot feed of the shower, to see if theres any gunk/scale restricting the flow, if you have the manf' instructions, check towards the back and follow the fault finding chart to see if you can eliminate the problem that way...!!

    good luck!

they do come in different sizes, the one i have installed and regulary install in other houses are LIFF LIME FIGHTERS they are 'in line' which mean you install them on the pipe run to the shower and are approx 35mm(1"1/4) in diamiter at widest part, and are 10"(255mm) long

they come either with compression fittings or with push fit fittings(even easier for diy fitting)

    hope this helps!!

  • i had this problem with my trition, gradually over a period of time the temperature dropped to cold. it turned out to be the thermostat cartridge. it is over £100 to replace, for a few quid more i replaced the whole shower and got the full 3 year warranty , it is not a difficult job
    speed is good

For a shorterm solution try removing the shower-head give it a gentle tap, flush it with water, (give it a good shake while it is filled with water),and you will probably find this will remove lots of the limescale.
    Hope this helps.

We have the same problem. As we live in a softwater area limescale is ruled out as the problem. I've reached the conclusion that it's knackered. I'm assuming that I can't just go out and buy any shower unit because I will have to try to match up the water supply inlet points.
