murcia help

hi!
my sister has booked cheap flights on 26.dec.she has asked me to book a nice hotel for her but i know nothing of the area.can anyone give me any info as where to stay that isn't too far from the airport and recomend any nice hotels.where is the nearest beach resort ? and is there much to do in murcia itself ?

The coast near Murcia is called the Costa Caida. One of the nicest resorts is San Pedro de Pinatar which is about 15 minutes from the airport.

Murcia is an interesting city and has a good range of shops and eating places.

The Lodomar is on the Mar Menor (the Little Sea!), which is an ENORMOUS lagoon! It's a lovely area and is a great place for sailing and bird watching.

Click on 'Tourist Resources' (on the left), then 'Beaches', then click on 'Mar Menor' on the map.

We have stayed on the other side (La Manga del Mar Menor) and the only problem I can think of is that the area can get very quiet out of (summer) season. You may want to check what is on between Christmas and New Year.

manolihotels.com have got some great deals at the Palmera Beach Hotel, not to far from Murcia airport. stayed there twice, no problems.
