One Account customers have again seen their mortgage rate cut by less than borrowers at parent firm RBS/Natwest.
The bank cut its standard variable rate by 0.25 percentage points - but One Account customers got just a 0.2 point reduction. In the past year base rate has fallen from 5.5% to 1.5%, but those in the One Account have missed out on 1.3 points of cuts - meaning an extra £1,212 a year interest for those with a typical £150,000 mortgage. Loans now start at 3.9%.

That is excellent publicity! More like that keeps the pressure up!:T

Well, now we are getting the truth - finally - about RBS's disasterous investment policy over the last couple of years! Effectively now the bank has been nationalised this morning. Not that it should make any difference to the outcome of our collective complaints to the Financial Ombudsman of course. I have just received a "holding" letter today from the FO - they confirm I should be hearing from them next month with their decision.

They've cut by 0.2% from Feb 2nd. Their max current ltv is now 75% even though their paperwork is quoting up to 99%. I'd assume those people with a greater facility will be the first ones they try and cull....

  • Got a letter yesterday confirming that the rate will go down by 0.2% as of beginning of Feb.

Looks like they are in trouble!!!
  • Has anyone else had the 0.2% reduction letter? nothing for me yet.

    I got the letter yesterday.
  • Spoke with the ombudsman service, they said they do not usually take on cases about interest rates unless it is a tracker. However, due to the exceptional circumstances they are taking on these cases. I have now submitted all my paper work. I suggest others do the same , the more that do so the better chance of some success. Don't be fooled that the rate reductions are good news, just remember rates will soon be going up again and what then ?
