How about we all email Alistair Darling on 1st December (D-day = Discount day) at 7pm. Like someone else said before if we all do it together he cant ignore it. Also doing it at 7pm means more people could probably do it and also they have had all day to announce something when other banks are cutting rates that day.

    Who's up for it?
Yes all email Monday 7pm if you can, otherwise anytime on Monday, everyone please post your emails on here for others to copy and paste so no excuse even if you are really busy on the day (also strengthens this thread) and copy in some newspapers and watchdog ohh also copy in the One acc!

Cutting and pasting isn't as effective as individual letters. In my day job we are running a campaign against a Govt White Paper and are using http://www.webershandwick.co.uk/ who strongly advise against standardised letters. A few individual lines are much more valuable than petitions and copies of letters.

Agree we should all protest, but let's do it in a way that we will be heard

If anyone can add to it, tidy it up a bit or anything else be my guest

    Dear Mr Darling

I would like to bring to your attention that a bank in which the Government now owns a 57.9% majority has not passed the 1.5% rate cut that was announced 6th November. I believe you had a meeting with this bank on 7th November urging them to pass on the cuts in which they said they would pass on the cut, however we as customers have had no notification at all from this bank in regard to this.

I am one of 175,000 customere who have a mortgage with the One Account which is part of the RBS group and quite frankly their customer service has been appalling. I have been in contact with many other customers through Martin Lewis’ Moneysavingexpert.com website and there are many other customers disgusted in the fact that the Government helped out this bank but now they are refusing to pass on any information to their customers or rate cut for that matter.

Here are two links to this website in which customers are discussing their disgust at the banks not passing on the cuts

    One Account rates cut
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1209517 (nearly 25000 hits so far on it) will change this number on Monday

Is your bank passing on the cut?
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1298779 (nearly 4000 hits and to date on the poll nearly 40% has not passed on the rate cut) will change this number on Monday

Any time any customers contact this bank we are just constantly told that the rate is ‘under review’ which I think has gone on long enough. I feel the Government should intervene in this matter, especially as it is now a majority shareholder. Most One Account customers are currently paying 6.2% on what is supposed to be a variable mortgage. To us as customers it seems that the bank is now trying to claw back its losses through the Government bailout and also through not passing on rate cuts which is unacceptable.

I look forward to your reply on this matter

2 suggested additions in blue, to highlight the huge numbers affected and the shocking rate.

Changed it but only put most paying 6.2% as it depends on how much you borrowed against your house but 6.2% is the average I think, thats what I pay anyway.
