Quite clearly, Virign say they are still teamed up with the oneaccount. The situation at the moment does Branson and his Virgin brand no favours...
I agree the Virgin tag is on everything despite RBS renaming the account several years ago... from what I understand Mr Branson and Co sold out to RBS and the rights in the UK but continue with this model elsewhere in the world i.e Australia and America.0 -
I think the One Account branding is a bit of a dog's dinner - totally mismanaged by RBS.
As one of the "original" Virgin One customers, ALL my bank statements, letters received from the One Account, cheque books (outer cover and cheques themselves) and the outer cover of my paying in book are all branded Virgin One Account.
The paying in slips in my Virgin One Account paying in book are all branded RBS.
My friend, who took out his account well after RBS took full control of Virgin One, receives everything branded as The One Account - no mention of Virgin One Account at all.
Who knows why - although I suspect RBS has a "licence" to continue to use the Virgin One Account brand with existing customers for a set period of time.0 -

Or maybe we have slightly diiferent contracts/rights??0 -
I've read a few posts on this topic and as an ex employee of the One account I'd like to try and clear things up regarding the Virgin branding.
When Virgin ended their joint venture with RBS a decision was made that all existing customers upto that point would continue to have "Virgin" branded accounts, and would see the Virgin brand on all their correspondence, chequebooks, cards, etc. All new customers from that point had "One account" branded accounts. RBS's logic behind this was that they believed brand names where important to customers (this was why NatWest wasn't rebranded as RBS), therefore they shouldn't change the name of the account that existing customers had.
You might be interested to know that there are also NatWest and Direct Line branded One accounts that are managed by the same call centre and admin staff.0 -
As 2791trauts has said, the branding varies, for example go to the Natwest site and try to login to the Natwest One account. You will see that the final login screen is the same, except it has a different logo and colour scheme.
See https://service.oneaccount.com/onlineV2/OSV2?event=login&system=virgin&pt=1&brandRef=3
Notice it says virgin in the URL.
Now the interesting part is that I was unable to log in my account using this login. When I went to virginone.com and clicked through to the login page the same Natwest branding came up, until I cleared my browser history.
I think we have missed a trick here. We need to team up with the Natwest and Direct Line Customers. Im guessing that their rates are the same, maybe 2791trauts could brief us on the different accounts etc.0 -

Don't think so. There have been Natwest One customers on here with similar concerns to us "Virgins". However, their case isn't quite so strong because the Natwest derivatives were only established later, hence there isn't - at least as far as I'm aware - the same letters claiming to track the base rates knocking about.
I still believe the One Account branding is incoherent. I've had my account for 9 years. I thought I'd received a letter at the time of the RBS takeover, saying it was being rebranded from Virgin One Account to The One Account. Even if I didn't, I've certainly received letters (and even cheque books & statements) variously branded both Virgin One and One Account...it's always struck me as being whatever paper they had lying around...I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0 -
The OA is the best option available to me. I know FD is offering much better rate, but I was told they will not consider my application because I have an expiring date on my visa. Anyway, I am going to apply for OA.
I read that there is an incentive for recommending a new customer, i.e., if somebody recommend me, then both of us will be entitled to £125 each. So, I wonder anyone here can recommend me and know how to do this.
anyone interested, pls reply or email me on spicyfreak@gmail.com
