My Pregnant Wife has been made redundant

I'm trying not to panic and stay clam but my wife found out this morning that tomorrow will be her last day at work as the business has had to fold. We have a 17 month baby boy and we're also now expecting our second child (12 weeks pregnant). I currently earn £16k per year, working every other weekend to boost my salary from 13k. We both have numerous credit cards and loans (only mine are protected against job loss) and have managed by. Now we're immediately 12k down on our joint income and fear we may have to sell everything just to get by. We're both going to go down to the CAB on Monday morning to see what they say/suggest and of course we're open to all opinions here aswell.

You will be able to increase your tax credit award so get onto them asap and update your circumstances.
If your wife finds another job though, tell them asap.
I'm assuming you only receive ctc on your current income? You may get wtc on your income alone (you definitely would on £13k but I'm not sure about £16k).
On £16k though, you will definitely get wtc once the new baby arrives.
Entitledto will give you a very good idea if you don't want to wait until Monday.
Oh, and you will definitely be eligible for the £500 maternity grant - you ca apply from when your wife is 28 weeks pregnant I think (may be 26 weeks) up until the baby is 12 weeks old.0
