Alliance & Leicester Fixed Rate Bond

Hi

I have an A&L 6 month Fixed Rate Bond maturing soon and have been offered a further 6 months at 6.85% confiremd by them today

As an ICESAVE victim I am nervous of being accused of rate chasing and in view of the Bank rate reduction this is a good rate

Should I go with this or put in safe old Nationwide

I too am an Icesave victim. I also have more than £50K invested with the Alliance and Leicester. How safe is it given that the A&L is owned by Banco Santander who are based in Spain. I'm getting a good rate at the A&L but that'll be worthless if the whole lot goes into meltdown

Don't worry, you are covered up to £50K per person, but make sure you do not hold any other funds in a Santander bank brand as that will take you over the £50K limit. There is a list somewhere of all the different Brands and which bank owns which brand etc,try this.
