This is illegal and the site is not here to help you breach copyright.0 -

Yes, it is illegal. You are breaching copyright by reproducing the DVD.
I have reported this thread as you are asking for help on something illegal. You might want to delete your posts yourself in the circumstances.
Also, you might want to look at this site http://www.fact-uk.org.uk/ which sets the position out for you.0 -

If you go to edit, there is an option at the top of the page to delete your post.
People do copy DVDs illegally, you are certainly not the only one. There are sites that will tell you how to do it but in order to retain the integrity of this site (and to prevent action being taken against it) members are asked not to seek or post info on illegal activities.
Everyone makes mistakes, so don't stress about it. As long as you learn it from it then its not all bad.0 -
yes totally understand, although i dont think you should have reported me straight away as i genuenly didnt know it was a illigal thing to do.
i copy my music onto cds for the car so just assumed it was the same thing.
anyway i will delete my post.
will i hear from anyone because you have reported me?appreciate what you have got x0 -

No, don't panic. I reported the thread for it to be deleted which, even though you have realised your mistake will have to happen anyway. I don't know if you will get a message from the forum manager asking you not to post these sort of thing again but you have realised your mistake so I would expect them to leave it at that.
I applaud you for realising your error and accepting the situation. Many who post here looking to do this sort of thing believe it is their right to do so regards of the legalities and with no respect to the difficulties it could cause this site. You have taken on board what was wrong and you should be congratulated for that.0 -

Don't worry about "being reported" for making a genuine request for information.
Every now and then people ask how to copy music/dvd's etc and that in itself is NOT illegal (making the enquiry as to how it's done) - especially if the discs are NOT copyright protected ie:home movies etc.
Copying copyright protected cd/dvd's is illegal and it's discussion on these boards isn't looked upon favourably - as it could be seen as encouraging naughty activities!0 -
***Boardguide comment***
In the Site Rules it says:-ILLEGAL TOPICS
Please do not discuss illegal issues or those that are grey areas in law on this forum. The Board Guides have been asked to remove any such posts. These include the cross-border sale of tobacco, file-sharing, breaking copy protection, hacks, keygens, trading registration codes, pornography, Russian MP3 download sites or other ways to illegally use software.
In the case of in-car speed camera alert/avoidance devices such as Roadangel, GPS Satellite Navigation and Tom Tom feel free to discuss the MoneySaving on purchasing the product but not the legalities. Even though there are some legitimate uses there is a blanket ban on P2P topics. This is done to protect this site and its resources.
Posts that discuss copying are deleted as it's a grey area a lot of the time.
Have a look at sra's Unofficial Forum A-Z for useful info about how to do things such as editing etc.
