Holiday money for Mexico

I am shortly going to Playacar in Mexico staying at an all inclusive resort. Could anyone help - do I take Dollars, Sterling or local currency? Would a Post Office Travel card be of use?:cool:
The advise I have been given so far is so varied and just thought there might be someone out there with recent experience of travelling to Mexico who could help.

We went to Playacar last year and took a mixture of USD and Pesos. Both were accepted everywhere.

They do love their dollars over there and most retail shops are priced in dollars, however markets and the like will accept any currency you chuck at them.0

We got a far better rate when we exchanged sterling ( into US DOLLARS) at our hotel in Playacar than we did back in the UK beforehand.0
