Internet Banking - does anyone here use Alliance & Leicester ?

Hope this is the right place to post this - my mother has a current account with Alliance & Leicester and uses their Internet Banking service. She is apparently having a right pig of a job setting up a new Payee - she has tried it many times over the past few days and every time she enters the details she gets the errror:
"We have been unable to complete your request. Please try again later."
She's set up new payees in the past with no problems whatsoever. She has tried phoning A&L but ends up waiting for ages and gives up. She has sent them messages via their secure messaging service but the replies are less than helpful.
Is there a problem with the A&L online banking right now?
The rest of their system seems fine, it's just setting up a new payee that's a problem.

I set one up maybe three days ago no problem.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. I've just logged out of my account and all looked well. I didn't do any transactions though.
I would give it time and try again making sure all the details are correct and only contact them as a last resort.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
Is she perhaps doing something wrong?
She tells me that she's doing the following:
The payee is an account she has with Citibank, so she chooses 'a person' for the payee
for the payee name she puts in the name of her Citibank account, ie Mrs x xxxxxx
for the account number she enters her Citibank account number
then the sort code
then for customer Reference she enters Citibank
Is that right?0 -

I had the same trouble. Keep persisting with call centre. They sorted me out straight away.
