internet explorer problems

hi newbie here, can anyone help,
I am getting this message when i try to log on to any website,
( internet explorer cannot display the webpage).

When i diagnose the connection problem it says
(cannot communicate with search.msn.co.uk(92.31.238.8).

please can someone help as i am a m shopper and the net is my life.

I'll try to help but I'll need a bit more information:

How does the PC connect to the internet? Dial-up modem, broadband through a modem or router or via a wireless connection to a router.

Do you have any other computers in the house and are they able to connect to the net?

Possibly a quick fix: if you have a router, unplug it's power for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in. Give it a few minutes to connect up and then try it out.

Delete the cookies and try again (Sometimes they become corrupt)

Download, install, update and run a Quick Scan withMalwarebytes' AntiMalware.

Make sure any items found after the scan are ticked and then choose Remove Selected.

If you're on XP:

Click Start > Run and type cmd.exe

then type ping 92.31.238.8

and copy the results

If Vista:

Click start, in the search box type cmd then enter

then type ping 92.31.238.8

and copy the results

Do as above, after typing ping 92.31.238.8, type ipconfig and copy that to here
