ING/Kaupthing transfer savings rates

It may interest many investors that there are no details of what interest rate will be applied to savers accounts on their transfer from Kaupthing to ING. ING customer services on all telephone numbers I used haven't got a clue. Amazing isn't it that one of the things clients are obviously keenly interested in (hence their investments in Icelandic banks) is not being addressed - what transparency there is in all of this.

I'll just be happy when £33,000 of my money turns up in an account somewhere, because it ain't in Kaupthing and it ain't in First Direct!

More pressing issues at present, and it only happened yesterday. Most people are more interested in where their money is and whether it's safe - to be honest if I've lost £15 because of 2% lower interest rates for a week I'm not going to be devastated.
  • Thing is Kaupthing Website is still working normally and you can open up term accounts at 7.15%

Give it time. At present the interest you are earning is the same as it was last week. When ING inform their new customers of the interest rates you will then be able to make a decision.

I just spoke with someone in former KE now ING and they said that the terms and conditions will remain the same, so will the interest.

The thing is, they told me so many lies over the last few days that I do not believe a word they say anymore! For example, KE customer service a few weeks ago ASSURED me that the protection - at the time was still £35,000 - was per PRODUCT, not per customer.

When the bubble started busting, the day before yesterday, I rang and they said that it was per customer, not per product, and denied that any of their customer service people would have given me this incorrect information.

They also told me that KE was safe and that it was only a rumour about ING taking over! Then they told me that it would take only 48 hours to close the bond and send the money into my link account.

Today the ING people told me that because of the unexpected situation they have NO IDEA how long it will take to get the money out of KE/ING and transfer them in the link account.

DON'T BELIEVE ANY OF THEIR BULLSH*T!!!!!!

I did a bacs transfer on Tuesday and according to the guy at KE today should be with me no later than tomorrow (will not hold my breath). If I still do not receive it then I must assume they put an unofficial block on transfers prior to the transfer of ownership on Wednesday. My money then must be in a holding account as the balance is shown as zero.
  • Unebelievbale.

Who gives a f*ck if they don't respect the old interest rates.

Most of us just want our money back in its original form, and are not bothered about the interest.

Presumably, after all this s*it has gone down, you'll be moving your money to the latest Somalian internet banking wheeze for the sake of an extra 1% interest.
