Housing benefit & Mortgage protection

Hi Folks.
I am loosing my job in January 09, I have mortgage protection which should pay out for 12months, but housing benefit i.e. paying the interest part of a mortgage starts after 13 weeks of un-employment.

I would like to know if I will get that payment even though I have mortgage protection in place?

thanks in advance

It's not housing benefit that pay the interest but JSA/Income Support. You will not get it if you have payment protection in place.

The financial assistance you received from the Job Centre for your mortgage will not available to you whilst have your payment protection insurance. The timescale i.e. 13 weeks you suggested, runs concurrently with any additional protection you have so when your insurance runs out you will be able to claim straight away
