You do know that KE was taken over by ING yesterday? Therefore, what happens to Kaupthing Bank hf is now of little relevance to KE depositors.
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:
  • It may well be of little interest to KE UK depositors, but it's bad news for depositors with Kaupthing Edge in Isle of Man which has been put into administration today, has not been sold off to anyone, and is not covered by the UK protection scheme, only the Isle of Man scheme which is questionably-funded and uncertain whether it can pay out in full....

There's many depositors of Kaupthing Isle of Man who are this morning very worried they could lose everything, including many British expats forced to bank offshore because UK banks no longer open accounts for non-residents. See the later pages of this thread:

the bottom line is... avoid complications and sleep-nights!

one should take money from anything that has a TINY bit of foreign link!!

When did you do the CHAPS transfer? today? and got the money today itself? There are hundreds of people in this forum who took money out of KE via BACS/CHAPS over the weekend/mon/tue and money is still not in their CA. That includes me.

I used to bank offshore (an ex-expat), but I always stuck to the bigger UK banks/BS's. I would like to say I did that because I foresaw these current problems but that would be a lie. I did it, since it was simpler to transfer between offshore and onshore accounts, and simpler to transfer money in.

I wish Icesave was taken over as well like KE, instead of being 'frozen in limbo' and claim back from somewhere.
    Vodafone sucks.
