Hi,

I am using Sky Broadband and get speeds of much less than the 2MB/s advertised for the free tariff. However, I take out the middle £5 package for the monthly 40GB download allowance.

I am thinking of downgrading to the free package. Has anyone actually been charged for going over the 2GB allowance with SKY on the free package ?

The 2 Mbps that you get states its an up to speed & is dependant on how far you are from the exchange. If you are still in your 12mnths contract then you cannot downgrade to the base pack. If you have the mid pack it's up to 8 Mbps. Sky won't charge you for going over the download allowance they will just block your account, then you will need to call them to get it unblocked & they will also send you a letter with the heading bb abuse informing you that you need to upgrade as you keep going over the limit.
