This item was reported in our local newspaper.
A retired buisness men came home from holiday and was glad he didn't throw away a piece of junk mail unopened. It was from The Royal Mail and addressed to 'The Occupier' It told him that he had requested that his mail be redirected and he had 4-5 days to reconsider. He rang them to stop it straight away. He asked where the mail was be re-directed but they couldn't tell him as it was something to do with confidentiality. About a week later a credit card arrived which he had not requested. It had his name on it and a credit limit of £8,000. He could also apply for an immediate cash advance of £4,000. If he had not cancelled the (bogus) redireted mail request the card would have gone to the other address and he could have been out of pocket by £4,000 or more.
I am not sure if this has been posted before or if anyone else had heard of this happening anywhere else in the country.
