Is Wikipedia an OK source? I would have thought so, but I know some people get snotty about it.
I've been working for AQA for a year now. Wikipedia is rarely the best source, but we all use it, anyway.
AQA can be a decent source of extra income, but only if you're good at it. I've noticed lately that there are a lot of new researchers giving crap, incomplete answers. Relatively easy questions sit in the hard queue for hours, either because people can't be bothered to answer them, or don't know how. That hurts the rest of us.
Because AQA pays per answer, not per hour, you have to be good to make it worth your time. At AQA's summer party, I met researchers who said they were making less than the minimum wage. Why bother? A good researcher can make £10+ and hour, but you have to be good.
If you honestly think you can be good at this, come and join us. It's fun, and there's money to be made. But if you're struggling with the basic test (taking it for the third time, etc), find something else. You're not going to make a lot of money a this.0 -
Rainbow_Carnage is right. It is a great job but it's not for everyone and it's definitely not an easy way to make money. I've been doing it for over 2 years now, and I do make a decent living from it without (hopefully) letting the quality of my answers slip.
If you think you can whiz through the questions in order to make lots of money, then you're going to become sloppy, get bad reviews and be given the boot, so it's best not to do that.
If you pass the initial tests then you can, in time, make a decent living, but it takes time and commitment to reach that level. I would say it took me about 8 months before I felt comfortable enough to speed up a little and answer more questions (there is a large set of rules you have to remember and adhere to completely). Once you know the rules and know how to tackle each type of question, then it's great.
Working from home on days and times that suit me is invaluable to me, the company is a great one to work with, and my SR is fantastic. But remember, at the end of the day you're working for yourself, so if you're not up to the standard they require, they just won't use you anymore. My Mind Not Only Wanders..... I've only just found this thread which is a shame as applications are now closed. This is something I think I would be really good at and would thoroughly enjoy doing.
How often to they open up vacancies to UK applicants?“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
I have read through this and can not seem to find a answer to a question I have.
I applied a few days ago and just recieved my pack.
Do they check your references, ring them???
As my emplorer is on holiday for 3 weeks. So I wandered whether it was best to wait or not0 -
No, they don't generally check your references.
Good luck with the test.0 -
