Hi all,
need some help...
sold an item to someone who didn't pay so did an unpaid item dispute thingy....now says i'm eligible for credit....so how do i go about getting the refund and relisting the item? also read somewhere that they only refund the insertion fee (not entirely fair) so if i take off the bold etc when i relist it i won't get charged a tall for the relisting right?
Thanks in advance!! ;D ;D

If you filed a NPB more than 7 days ago them log back into your ebay page and on the left hand column near the bottom you'll see 'unpaid item disputes', go into that page and there should be a way of clicking onto claim FVF.
Unfortunately you only get the FVF back, all th elisting fees and optional extras are lost. However, you do have the option to relist the item and if it sells the second time you won't have to pay a second listing fee. However , if it doesn't sell the second time then you don't get either set of listing fees back.

Hi
I have copied and pasted an email I received from ebay when I asked the same question as you. I also could not work out what to do.
If, at least seven days after the end of your listing, the buyer hasn't
responded and/or you feel that the buyer isn't going to complete the
transaction, you may file a Unpaid Item Dispute with eBay. The Unpaid
Item Reminder is intended to be a workout period to assist you and the
buyer in completing the transaction. You MUST file an Unpaid Item
dispute within 45 days of the listings end time.
You can file an Unpaid Item Dispute by following these steps:
* Click on the 'site map' link located at the top of most eBay pages.
* Once on the Site Map, click on 'Report an Unpaid Item' located in the
middle column under Services'.
* Follow the online steps.
We ask that both the buyer and seller attempt to work things out for at
least 7 days before the seller may request credit. We believe this
'workout period' will assist all members in completing their eBay
transactions. However, if the buyer of your item has been suspended the
7 day waiting period is waived and credit issued automatically.
CLOSING THE UNPAID ITEM DISPUTE AND RECLAMING YOUR FINAL VALUE FEES
You can close the dispute after the buyer has responded at least once,
or if the buyer does not respond within 7 days after you filed the
Dispute. To close a dispute you will need to go to your My eBay and
select "Unpaid item Disputes" link, this is found under the related
links section on the left hand side of the page.
When the Disputes page opens select the relevant Dispute by clicking on
"View" and then close Dispute. The seller has several options to close
the dispute:
1. We've completed the transaction and we're both satisfied. With this
option, the seller does not receive a Final Value Fee credit and the
buyer does not receive an Unpaid Item strike.
2. We've agreed not to complete the transaction. With this option, the
buyer does not receive an Unpaid Item strike, the seller receives a
Final Value Fee credit, and the item is eligible for a relist credit.
3. I no longer wish to communicate with or wait for the buyer. With this
option, the buyer receives an Unpaid Item strike, the seller receives a
Final Value Fee credit, and the item is eligible for a relist credit.
A dispute can only be open for 60 days after the transaction date (i.e.
the date when the buyer commits to buying the item and the seller
commits to selling it). If the seller has not closed the dispute within
60 days, it will be automatically closed. When this automatic closure
takes place the seller does not receive a Final Value Fee credit and the
buyer does not receive an Unpaid Item strike.
Hope this helps. It did for me.

Maybe I'm just mean but I do get a sense of satisfaction knowing that a non payng bidder can only get three strikes on their account before they lose their account. I always think anyone can make a mistake once, but two or three times and they shouldn't be on ebay.
In the past couple of years I've had struck off buyers e mail me asking me to remove the strike I placed against them, sometimes months after I did it, as they suddenly woke up one morning and found themselves NARUd for life and not even able to start again.
I also wish that all sellers would go through the FVF process even for small amounts as so many don't bother. I have a buyer at the moment, sniped my auction at the last moment but has feedback in the 80% rating only. She has 6 negatives for non payment from 4 different people and of course I heard nothing from her. I started the NPB process and a couple of days before I was eligible to claim FVF I sent one last e mail explaining that I would be completing the process and if my FVF claim was the third on her account then her account would be automatically NARUd. I got my payment within 24 hours.
However if any three of those other 4 sellers had completed the FVF process she wouldn't be on ebay anymore.
