If you buy a spending diary, is the first thing you've bought that you have to write in it "spending diary"?

I'm 32 and still wind up with pockets full of conkers. They're so lovely and shiny and ripple-patterned when they're fresh... it's just a bit embarrassing when I wind up pulling them out of a pocket when I'm at work and supposed to be acting like a grown-up! :D

Off to look up the Frost poem now as I don't think I know it and it sounds lovely.

    Hi people!!

Well twas payday yesterday so was able to sit down and do the accounts today with a slightly clearer head than i might otherwise have had. so I have worked out that with my income and expenses I have a surplus of £326.67 and that is after i have paid off my pay day loan which went yesterday (:T ) and taxed and mot'd my car. However, my car is BADLY playing up at the moment, it either needs nice cheap spark plugs, slightly more expensive HT leads or an incredibly expensive fuel monitor enginey thingy.. FWMBOHBNSY has offered to do it for me starting with the nice cheap bit and working up if needs be but he seems to have run away faster than a thompsons gazelle being chased by a pride of lions at the moment so it could potentially be either the haynes seat manual for me or a very expensive garage! bah... he's still be nice and e-mailing and things just get the idea that something isn't right and i'm not sure what. Ah well it was nice while it lasted.

Well this week I have been spending a lot of time on toluna and am about 9000 points away from a voucher which should be relatively easy to do and also need to finsih off the qype reviews so that I can get the £50 amazon voucher from there. Looking at amazon I should be able to get the vast majority of my chrimbo shopping done on there and with no ultra expensive OH to pay for this year that surplus should stay pretty much intact.

I have my works christmas do on saturday to which afore mentioned friend is supposed to be joining me so need ot go dress shopping at some time possibly tomorrow afternoon. Spending all friday at the house in norfolk to finish clearing it out ready for the keys to be handed back on Monday  and need to mix that with a normal working day which is going to be hard.

I've noticed witht he spending diary that most of my money appears to be going on sporadic food purchases paid for by card in the odd pop into tesco etc. so I have budgeted £70 on food for december and will wihdraw this and keep it in cash in an envelope here in a drawer and use that instead. My budget is usually smashed as quorn is expensive and i eat lots of fresh food like salad which goes quickly and also goes off quickly!! must conentrate on that this month.

So thats just a wee little update from panialand. have fun all. xxx

New tip to make the shopping budget go further.....(and is really yummy!)

My friend told me that Tescos do packs of 6 North STaffs oatcakes (like pancakes but more substantial) for 35p!!!!!

You can heat them in the oven, fry them and put a fried egg on, or do what we are currently doing, and put some cheese in, roll them up and stick them in the microwave for 45 seconds. Delish. Cheap. Filling. Yum Yum Yum!

Hope FJKWEHJGJHIHW (or whatever his name is) is just having an off few days.

Glad to see you have a surplus. always a good start.

No run tonight - I did almost 6 miles Monday and a fast 4 (I even went under 10 min for my last mile!) from bannatynes yesterday, so will have a rest day today and tomorrow ahead of my long run on Sunday

The oatcakes are yum! Apparently you can put sweet things in too.......icecream and fruit anyone?

Glad you are seeing the doc
