Help With Video Downloads

Please, please help me. I am completely ignorant when it comes to computers-they are really just glorified typewriters!

I cannot download any video files. When I try, I get the connection and downloading message, but when I hit play, nothing happens.

I am mainly trying to download news from cnn, bbc, etc. I have tried following their advice and nothing seems to work. I have the most recent Real player and Media Player versions, but still no luck. I also have difficulties downloading radio stations as well. Any suggestions?

Yes, I can watch dvds, it really is just a problem with downloads.

Hi, Are you on broadband or on dialup? If you are on dial up it can take a long, long time for the videos to start playing.

I *think* I am on broadband. I live in student accommodation and it comes free with room. I hook it up through the data cable and not telephone network. Doesnt that mean it is broadband? Told you I was hopeless with computers!
