I have just sold my first ever item on ebay and I am so pleased!
However, (I know this is going to sound like a really silly question) I can't find the template thing to email my buyer and say thank you. When I press 'contact buyer' the other box appears where u submit a question abotu an item.
Also, all i need to do is post the properly packaged item, mark it as dispatched and await feedback, right? surely it's not that simple...am i missing something?
I know, I'm a worry-wart! I just want my first transaction to be hassle free and procedurally correct...!!
Thanks in advance x

Congratulations! But I've never come across a thank you template before. You can either email them directly or use the contact member button which you seem to have encountered.
Well it's really that simple if every goes as planned. But with all things in life things sometimes go sideways on eBay transactions. (eg. Missing/Broken item, buyer wants to return item, non-paying bidder... etc. Just to name a few).I know nothing0 -
I've been paid...and have LOADS of bubble wrap...fingers crossed ey
Thank you for prompt reply x

Hi there new seller!! You only get the templates if you have Selling Manager Pro (which you have to pay for!) I suggest you type an email that says thanks you for your purchase/payment/etc.. and keep it in your outlook express so you can copy and paste it to all buyers after they have paid and it is not going to take long. Something along the lines of
'Hi there, Many thanks for your recent ebay purchase from me. Your item has been packaged and will be dispatched in the next ** hours/days. Positive feedback will be left for you and I would appreciate it if you could let me know the item has arrived by leaving feedback or sending a little email. If you are unhappy with your purhase then please do contact me to let me know as soon as possible so we can rectify the problem. Thank you once again, your custom is most appreciated. Warm Regards xxx'
This is what I used to do before Selling Manager and it seems people never thanks for payment these days - it is so rude and naffs me off so OP you are going in the right direction by saying thank you!! If you are going to be selling lots though, I would recommend selling manager as it is brilliant (when it works, LOL!!)0 -
Again thank you for your prompt reply...peoples willingness to share at this late hour makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside
yes, i thought it would be nice to thank the buyer as I was beginning to worry that the item may have to be relisted which for me would have constituted a failed first attempt!
Thank for your template bluemuch appreciated x

You're welcome! That's very excellent then. Everything seems to be in the right place. Make sure you always get a certificate of posting from the PO if the item you're posting is of monetary significance to you. All the best!I know nothing0 -

You also get templates with Selling Manager, which is free.
Empfun, if you are going to be selling several things, it might be worth you looking at Selling Manager.

This is eBays own advanced selling tool. It's free, simple to subscribe to, and gives you a lot more features/information to use when selling items on eBay. Including changeable templates for things such as invoices, payment reminders, dispatch notices, etc. (you can also add your own).
There is also a more advanced version than this, called Selling Manager Pro, but as blue_monkey says, you have to pay for this (£4.99 per month) so it's only really worth it if you are selling a lot of stuff and are in need of it's extra features.
Or, as the others have said, you can do it yourself via e-mail.
Welcome to eBay and congrats on your first sell. :beer:0 -

No problem at all. Welcome to the selling bug.... my husband used to say that if it wasn't nailed down I would sell it. The sad thing is that it is true. I keep on trying to sell my kids but the buyer is back for a refund after half an hour with them LOL0
